Default Which Processor To Go For - E7200 or E8200?

Hey guys looking to upgrade a previous system which is as follows:

P4-2.80E HT Ghz
Intel D865GBF Motherboard
512MB DDR 400 RAM
BFG 6600GT AGP

hoping to spend as less as possible to upgrade to the following stuff:

Core 2 Duo (E7200 or E8200) Cant seem to decide which processor to go for. I wont go for overclock at all
2GB DDRII 800 Mhz RAM
ASUS P5K VM Intel G33+ICH9
at the moment will prefer to use a onboard VGA but will hopefully buy a 9600GT or an 8800GT in future

Kindly advice...

If you have the money, get the E8200. It is the better of the two processors.

looks good. definitely go with the E8200. also, you may want to wait until after Nehalem launches. you may see some price drops then. that will be a nice upgrade for you

When is Nehalem launching? I'm just looking to get a quiet system which wont blow my ears off like the 2.80E HT Ghz does, its seriously so very loud...

The $1000+ parts are, actually they'll probably be $1500+

Mainstream isn't supposed to be for quite awhile yet so we may not see the price drops a lot of people are hoping for

Yes i believe after the recent price drops from Intel that there wont be any more 'big' price drops untill they release Nehalem to mainstream consumers....about another 12 months.

Go for it m8, looks like a good system for the price it would cost.

If you are not going to overclock then I would get the fastest one you can afford, newegg has the E8200 for $165 and the E8400 for $170.For five dollars you get nearly 400mhz more.
