There are 4 demonstration videos and one extra combat video.
http://dragonage.bioware.com/ Good stuff. ![]() The combat looks surprisingly good for being a traditional point-click-wait type of system. The game world and characters seem to be top Bioware quality too. And the levels look HUGE.

One thing that's hard to get used to after playing The Witcher and Mass Effect is that the main character is mute. That's how most previous Bioware games are, but still...

Wow, this is really an exciting game for me. I do hope they keep the "hero" voiceless, as watching my character speak doesn't do anything for me, and the inexact wording (click one thing, your guy says another) in Mass Effect took a bit away from the experience for me.
Dragon Age looks to be yet another gem from Bioware, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Yea, mass effect had some really lame dialogue stuff...click one thing and something else comes out of the voice..like what the hell -.-....
I am looking forward to this, i just saw all 4 demonstration and i can't wait to have a crack at this. I just hope the performance will be good. I do like a voice for my main character, but i think it is not a must. KOTR was a voiceless hero as well, and that game turned out great . Mass Effect did have it right with the voice, but of course there dialogue was not the selection we picked. |

I watched it all and this is definitely one of those games I just really really want. But it being published by EA makes me worried, this one will be very hard for me to boycott just because of DRM

You're going to miss out on a LOT of good games if you're boycotting DRM. Luckily, the DRM causes most people no problems, me included. I don't care for it, but it a non-issue for me, really. Haven't had to call EA once yet.

I am not boycotting all DRM, just the really bad ones that make no sense. The Limited Activations with no way to reset it yourself without a call to support is one that I am definitely boycotting (Spore, Crysis Warhead). STALKER Clear Sky that apparently even the company itself hasn't been able to reset the activations for some people. Basically any DRM that ties itself to the hardware with no way for the buyer to deactivate or reset the activation counts I will boycott.

Hmm... for the most part I would say I was excited. The world looks wonderfully modeled, with lots large buildings around and wonderful detail (except for the statues.. why is it so hard to make high poly statues?). The polycount and overall detail of the characters wasn't anything special, but I dug the armors. There was a good variety, it didn't look to low poly or low res. Animation sucked balls. Clipping and jittery limbs every where. Someone needs to be fired for it, its that bad.
The lighting engine seemed iffy, there was a high ambient light with low contrast visual, and while the engine seemed to support shadered shadows, in many of the scenes you would expect them to be prominent, they were totaly missing. I wasn't to impressed with the character design, but i'll let it slide for such a small sampling of them. Although I am getting a bit tired of the whole assault by mindless orc look alikes every midevil fantasy game thinks it must have. As for the fighting... saw some good..saw some bad. The first thing I saw that was a big no no was lack of control of the group. It seemed like if there was an enemy in visual range, all of your team mates ran up to them. Many of them got their ass handed back to them. This combined with a lack of real agro system (I know some hate the whole notion of creating agro to guide monsters onto specific characters, as I found in the guild wars crowd, however the notion that a mage can die in one hit from a hard mob and the only thing keeping it from doing so is a random number generator would drive me up a wall to no end) makes me wonder how we will actually beable to protect our soft bodies. I saw the mage in the E3 demo fall a number of times in a fight. Attack animations and connecting with the mobs seemed a little slow and off.. but forgivable. Oh yea, its one thing to have "flammable grease" as an environmental hazard, but to CREATE it as a means to combine with a fireball for an AOE fire attack and then get excited that you combined 2 spells (one of which does nothing alone it seems) to create a 3rd was totaly laughable. Delete that stupid spell and just give em Rain of fire. I think im more interested in trying this game then I ever was with witcher. I like party based rpgs where you don't have unrealistic notions that one man can do it all.

Can't wait for this game. Awesome vids, hope they release more soon.
Hope they make it hard to kill Golems though. That's the main part of any RPG, that and he ability to kill Trigens. |
