Default NVidia FX5200 PCI with 173.xx.xx driver

I tried using the 173.xx.xx driver and received an error concerning SSE. My processor does not handle the SSE instruction set. What am I to do to get compiz running on Ubuntu 8.10 if I can not use that driver.

I want to use the most current xorg since I am testing Ubuntu 8.10 and do not want to screw up the results.
