Changes since 177.76:

* Fixed a performance regression affecting the gtkperf lines and circles test.
* Updated the X driver to consider /sys/class/power_supply when determining the AC power state.
* Fixed corruption when using SLI in SFR mode with OpenGL-based composite managers.

GeForce 7600 GT

gtkperf -c 200

Code:
177.70
IPP = 0       13.93
IPP = 1       15.07
IPP = 2       34.23

177.76
IPP = 0       32.43
IPP = 1       32.98
IPP = 2       43.52

177.76
IPP = 0       14.59
IPP = 1       13.41
IPP = 2       24.34

Yea, scrolling with Firefox 3 is still very slow on some places, for example http://www.myspace.com/trivium and http://www.boxtorrents.com/browse.php are terribly slow. Using 9800 GT and 177.78 drivers with InitialPixmapPlacement=2, and GlyphCache=1.

PS. Xorg 7.4

Edit: Downgraded back to Xorg 7.3, the myspace page is faster now, but still lagging a bit.

both of them are super smooth here:

2.6.26-5.slh.6-sidux-686 (Debian sid)+Xorg Server Vendor Version:1.4.2 (10402000)

+177.78+ IPP=2 & GC=1+ 8500GT

btw, did you use the userContent.css trick to speed up firefox?

if not,

add this to your userContens.css:

* {
background-attachment: scroll !important;
}

what annoy me most is ctrl+mousewheel text zooming in firefox response very slow, compared with opera 9.6(QT4) or firefox2

I didn't have that, now I added it, and the pages are smoother now, thanks

Had to just downgrade the driver as this new one makes my laptop sound like its going to take off. The fan ramps up to max, then spins down, then repeats this indefinably. (8400GS in a Dell M1330)

Got around to installing this last night. I didn't notice anything from 76 to 78, then again I don't run gtkperf all day.

The fan noise, sounds like the 3D hardware is active more often now?
