Triple-channel DDR3 is required, I believe. I heard somethings about it having some pretty strict memory requirements.

Nehalem sucks at gaming

Every preview has shown that its NOT for the die hard gamers and I can put my CPU against it and my Quad runs with a 3GHz Nath so wtf are you guys talking about? All it has is a fancy 3 way ram bus and some newer instructions neither of which will yield massive game improvements. Your better off with a Highly clocked Quad at least that you can overclock!

Since there has been no proof that Nehalem's don't OC well, just speculation based on memory requirements and some bull about locked FSBs, you won't know until they are ready to release or the NDA lifts whether they are good for gamers or not. That is why people say it is better off waiting. Besides a new release will only ever lead to price drops on the existing chips so its a win-win situation.

They are locked NO OCing for Naths unless you grab a X series and as long as it stays that way a 2.97GHz Nath will get a run for its money from a 3.4GHz Q6600 and thats just the way it is.

Same here.

The Core 2 Duo is a great CPU, but 90% of its greatness comes from the overclockability. An easy 1Ghz to 1.5Ghz overclock on a sub $200 CPU with air cooling is nothing short of amazing. Especially since it out performs the competition clock for clock as it is.

If it couldn't do this though, it wouldn't be nearly as impressive compared to the Athlon X2. Still better, but not mind-blowingly so.

To succeed in the enthusiast market, Nehelem will need a pretty outrageous price\performance ratio if it isn't going to allow any overclocking.
