Default External montor resolution

Hi all

I have a nvidia 7400 geforce go in my laptop with a vga output. I want to drive an external screen (samsung syncmaster 245b) at 1900x1200 but nvidia-settings only detects it up to 1280x800. I am using the 177.78 beta drivers. How can I force nvidia-settings to enable twinview at a higher resolution than this?
