Default 177.80: Still fails with multi-GPU Dell M1730

This release doesn't work with the 8700M configuration in the Dell. The whole 177.* line has been a major disappointment for this user.

Hi NightOwl, I thought you might like to know that I now have the 177.80-1 version from Debian experimental working on my M1730 (at least so far... *fingers crossed that it stays this way*). I'm using the 2.6.27 kernel without any extra boot parameters and I'm running the cards in AFR mode. I built the kernel and nvidia driver using make-kpkg with gcc version 4.3.2. So it *is* possible for the latest drivers to work. :-)
I've yet to find the best combination of settings between compiz and nvidia-settings to get sync-to-vblank at 60fps with minimal CPU usage... but otherwise it seems to be working fine.

I have the same hardware as you (M1730, 2x 8700M cards), using OpenSuSE 11.0. 177.80 is working (well, KDE 4.1 is slow but...) fine on my hardware. Try booting with noirqdebug.

NightOwl: please note that the error encountered/reported by the NVIDIA graphics driver is that it doesn't receive interrupts from at least one of the GPUs; this is a system-level or kernel-level, rather than a driver problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. I turned on noirqdebug that stops the kernel from shutting down the NVidia interrupts. It seems the 177.* releases are much more susceptible to the problem than the 173.* releases. I'm not sure there are any performance improvements with the new drivers though.
