GeForce3 Ti 500 not working with 4363

I've already been working with driver version 2960 and some other older without any problem, but I liked to update to the last version.

When a try to run X Window, all I get is a blank screen, and my system completely freezes (I've made tests to verify it), the only thing I can do is to press the reset button.

In this situation, it's very difficult (probabillistically talking) to get a quite complete log file.

Here is some info about my system:
Video card: GeForce3 Ti 500
Driver version: 4363
Distribution: SuSE Linux 8.0 (i386)
Video bios revision: 03.20.00.20
Processor: AMD Athlon @ 1 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS A7V (KT133)
RAM: 1 GB
Kernel version: 2.4.20 with 4 GB support

how long have you left your system sit before resetting it? many of us have been having the problem of newer drivers causing X to take an extremely long time to start up(some up to 3 minutes) during which the system can appear to be locked up. id suggest letting it sit for a few minutes and see if X eventually starts...if it does, start posting regularly in the thread http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...=&threadid=416

im trying to get a response from nvidia regarding this problem. so far, despite 80+ posts,neither andy nor anyone else has commented on it.

Hmm... After waiting about 3 minutes and 45 seconds, X Window continues its startup as usual, and everything works fine then.

it has been noted that it might be a firewall issue. or a failure to connect to the internet, that can cause a 60 sec+ slowdown too... maybe X is started before network?

What? A failure to connect to the Internet? To start X Window? It makes no sense. Why do I need to be connected to the Internet to start X Window? I have a 56 Kb dialup Internet connection, and I won't connect to the Internet before starting X Window.

its just a suggestion, some people have permanent connections...
and try to connect to their X server through the internet first and then through their lo interface...
