Yep. Upgrading sh*t really gives you a sense of pride or something. Great weapons and enemies. The laser-point aim is an awesome touch i think.

I've got a little over 4 hours into this (more actually because I replayed a few parts) and so far its awesome.

I've adjusted to the controls for the most part, though the strange menus still cause me to screw up once in a while. I keep accidentally using my large health packs because I'm playing in the dark and can't see the keys too well after moving to other keys to navigate menus. Its irritating but forgivable. If I lose anything I really need I can always reload a save from a few minutes back. A key to bring up a mouse cursor to navigate the in game menus would have been great, but that's the kind of thing that usually gets left out in console to PC ports.

Also, forcing vsync and triple buffering with D3D Overrider and disabling vsync in the game seems to make the game run and look perfect without any tearing or mouse lag. The only place there is mouse lag is in the main menu, outside the game itself. This is fine with me and I'm glad this works because the tearing caused by flickering lights with vsync off was pretty distracting.

i dont think i ever used the large ones, sold them mostly for ammo or nodes. used the small ones more i think, or maybe it was the other way around.

Dang, just hit 8 hours and its still going. I thought it was over an hour and a half ago (big boss) but it hasn't slowed down.

I do take my time with games like this though. I love it when they reward exploration.

I have to say, I can't believe how polished this game is. Other than the goofy ragdolls that get stuck in things and seem to flop around on their own too much, its pretty much flawless. The only bug I've encountered is that my sound stutters or gets static once in a while. Its only happened two or three times in more than 8 hours of gameplay, and it goes away after 10-20 seconds.

BTW, this game kills time pretty quickly. At 11:00 I was hungry and planned on turning the game off and grabbing something to eat. Then I couldn't figure out why I was starving and I realized it was 1:00.

LOL

It's a it like that. Though I find scary games tough, I love them, but they are so intense. I felt the same in Doom 3 and Fear. Would be cool if they port the new Wii Dead Space to PC. Mouse would work take the place of a Wiimote nicely.

I never really have trouble with scary games. Especially if they have quick-save.

Though this game did get the blood pumping a few times when i was being chased by something massive or being dragged by some enormous meaty-arm-thing.

Also, I did find myself opening a door and looking into a cramped, blood covered room and saying "oh come on... no way am I going in there"... . I eventually go in, and normally nothing happens but they do a good job of making you uncomfortable with running straight into a new room.

Only a few games have repeatedly shaken me up like that really. Call of Cthulhu, STALKER and way back in the day Doom, Quake and Quake 2.

Remember, aim for his swollen yellow elbow-sack and you'll eventually get away. As long as he doesn't pull you into that meaty hole of his.

Oh and how freaking long is this game?

I'm past 11 hours now and they just keep on sending me to new areas where I need to find more and more keys to open more doors to fix something so I can open a door to get a key to fix something etc...

I'm still having a good time and I appreciate a long game but... really, this is starting to get silly for an action game.

It is pretty long. I found it a little drawn out towards the end. There is only so much stopping around I can do. I think I could have handled it if they had a few more cut scenes and rest periods. The constant barrage is very tiring. ::

I just played the basketball part. That was a neat little diversion.

And I agree that the barrage of baddies can get a little overwhelming at times. I can't imagine trying to play this with a controller when I've got 6-7 enemies surrounding me.

+1
There's so much pressure ,no time to rest.spoiler: The mob you can't kill scared me ****less with his constantly regenerating body parts, you use stasis on him and then run around like mad in that damn clinic or whatever it is trying to find the item you need .Then you have to take care of other mobs thats chasing you pefore he unfrezes/regenerates.I had to rest after that section,so damn intense that i broke a sweat

Excellent game. Haven't played a game that got my under skin like this one since D3. Shooting is very satisfying, gameplays are straightforward, realistic animations, top-notch sound effects, interesting concepts, and decent graphics w/ rooms to improve in the texture area, and a not-so-bad story. Didn't take me more than 10 hours though, which could have been longer. Isaac's walking, running, and stomping are very well-animated professionally and realistically.

The last boss fight was a total blast and can't help it but to get the sequel.
