Also broke a PS3 controller with COD4 when your holding off the enemy near the ferris wheel, was playing the game on hard and could not get past that section. |

lol that was an epic moment.. I don't know how I got through that on the first try. Damn tree saved my life.
The sound in Dead Space is amazing.. it is probably the most terrifying aspect of the game.

HOLY CRAP this game is amazing. This is the best game as far as immersion, graphics and atmosphere I have played since Bioshock.
As I moved through chapter one I was constantly amazed by how awesome everything looked, but also how much effort was spent making the enviornment believable. The menu interface being a hologram from Isaac's suit we all knew about, but everything in the game also ties into this same dedication to making things realistic and immersive. While not an "open world" by any means, the game manages to feel somewhat non-linear in the same small ways Bioshock did, by putting extra rooms and branching paths, and a little bit of backtracking with new abilities. I also like how there seems to be no load times within chapters, only a small delay when a door is preparing to open if it needs to load assets. The engine is butter smooth on console, and I hope it works well on PC. Framerate is amazing, physics are better than most, and the game just feels polished. Your character feels very "heavy" as he moves around, which I like, and the guns all have weight as well. The game pushes some major geometry and some massive areas, all of them filled with video dispays, lots of debris and posters and other immersive objects. Lastly, the sound design is awesome. Voices in the air, great acting in cut scenes, amazing explosions... I play games with 5.1 headphones and this game is a REAL treat. If you go console, go for PS3. Early comparisons show it looks a smidge better, has a bit better load times, and the exclusive black suit looks f'ing KILLER in-game. |

I haven't read the thread, is there any consensus on PC vs. Console versions on this one? I don't have an HDTV yet so it's either PC now or wait for HDTV on my part and I prefer PC controls anyway. Any recommendations?

The video review doesn't work for some reason. It buffers for a while but never starts playing.
