I didn't buy the game but only played the demo (several times). The problem for me is that Sacred 2 has only a few slots for special abilities (max 4?). Also when you level them and they become more powerful they also get longer cooldowns. And if you use the combo funcion to chain abilities into one slot, the cooldown only gets longer. So the combat system is just a lot of autoattacking while waiting for cooldowns. It just feels unrewarding. And the combat skills also felt a bit dull, well maybe better on the other characters. Feel free to correct me, because as I said I never got the full game after playing the demo.

The Combat art balance is different from the first game. I remember my character had many points spent in to combat arts yet quite low cool down.

In S2 you generally keep your combat arts at lvl 1 for a long time and upp your damage by spending points in skill mastery and lore. +all skill items helps a lot along with rings that augment damage type you use. Also you should put rings/amulets and combat art runes in sockets of your equipment. Better quality socket also gives a slight bonus to the modifiers of the thing you put there.

This way you have very low cool down yet you still do a lot of damage, and once your cool down timer is lower then the time it takes to cast the combat art you start adding runes for some extra damage or stronger buffs.

Another tip is to use the Combo slot with just one combat art, that way the cool down won't be affected much yet you still get combo bonus if you spend skill points in it. It's not so good for magic users as combo cancels reduced casting speed. But for melee or ranged it works great.

Though the funny thing is the bosses on bronze still gave me trouble.
I am playing on Silver. I will take your advice and move to another area for tougher enemies.

I have not bothered using combo's as there has been no need to.

I have constant sync issues with this game playing with a friend on opennet. Every so often it will forget an action i performed and i end up losing equipment i just bought or found.

Id say it works quite good now days, not that I had too many crashes before though. On my old rig however the game used to be quite unstable.

There are still some minor bugs or tweaking that needs to be done but it is to be expected in such an huge game.

I thought PhysX was already running in the game. I know when I had issues with a physX driver Sacred2 wouldn't run.

It uses PhysX but doesn't run with hardware acceleration. I.e. it only uses light CPU friendly physics. Apparently the patch with add hardware acceleration and more advanced effects.

It looks like the patch destroys framerate, Pc Games Hardware tested it and if you run it maxed at 1920x1200 you get a craptastic 27.3 fps when using a GTX 285 plus an 8800GT as dedicated PhysX card. However you can lower resolution to 1280x1024 to reach a more acceptable 35.6 fps. Sadly there are no SLI numbers, that will probably be the only way to run the game at decent speed.

For ATI is even worse, a 1 Gb 4870 plus a dedicated AGEIA card gets 17.5 fps at 1920x1200 or 22.3 fps at 1280x1024.

However this test is done on a worst-case scenario: it uses enhanced textures, 4xAA, PhysX and the enhanced spells, the bad weather with rain, lightnings and wind. With no AA and the sun shining, framerate is almost double.

It's huge and it's fun. If you like hack and slash RPGs get it. Keep in mind that using AA halves the framerate.
