Single GPU, Nvidia's 280GTX. Dual-GPU, AMD's 4870x2.

To answer your question, the fastest card overall on the market is the ATI 4870X2. It doesn't matter if it has 1 or 2 GPU's, it beats the GTX280 so therefore it is fastest card.
Not trying to start a war here guys, just stating (admitting) the truth. ![]() Kapt

Oh please...........quit being a NV fanboy. I'm neither pro ATI or Nvidia exclusively, just go for the best product in my price range. He ask what the fastest card was w/ money not an option. The correct answer is the ATI 4870x2. Like I said overall it is the fastest card. Please don't try to "hand pick" benchmarks to prove otherwise....just answer the question honestly. BTW, my last two vid cards have been NVidia. Kapt.

Altho the Radeon HD 4870x2 is the fastest card ,I still consider it a card with two GPU and 2gigs of memory but only really uses 1gig ,like any other SLI or CrossFire setup and has some problems just like a crossfire setup..This is my opinion the fastest single GPU card is the GTX 280.Either one you want go wrong so buy the one you perfer.

a lot slower? the 280 is only about 10 to 15% faster than a single 4870 1gb anyway, so even if crossfire failed its only going to be about 10 to 15% slower on avg. to answer ops question the 4870x2 is the fastest card followed by the 280.

What ever, they are both great cards which ever one he wants to go with should do the job great.I was just going by if the 4870x2 does'nt have support for a game then it is basically a 4870 1gig card, and with the GTX 280 you don't have to worry about That. But if both cards have support for the game being played and since the 4870x2 fits in one slot then yes it is the fastest single slot card.It may just be me but a card with two GPU's should not be in the same class as a card with just one GPU.But not takeing that in consideration and since it does fit in one slot,I see your point.
