Default Comp shuts down during games and other apps

Hey,

Thanks for all who are reading this btw. Well my problem is just recent and pretty much my comp shuts off or reboots during gaming, such as CS, Battlefield, and GTA Vice City. It did not do so till I installed GTA Vice but I can't confirm that as the reason...I'm really just lost, so now I'm gonna lose my current drivers, 4345, and get the new 44.03, see if that helps...
If anyone has had this issue after installing GTA help me out!

Comp:
Athlon XP 1900+
512 pc2100
Asus kt7233-c
2 30gb 7200rpm Maxtors
SB Live Plat 5.1
XFX gf4 4200 128mb

It just turns off?

If so, it's a heat issue.

Another thing to check would be your power supply, if you can grab another one and see if that helps, maybe you have a spare?

First off the new drivers didn't help, it did set my clock settings on my GF4 to normal, still it reboots, but it did take a little longer...hmmm. I now using it open cased, I have the default crap heatsink for my Athlon, and as of now no spare power supply. I'll see how this works for a while, does anyone think its a software thing? Because I'm pretty close to formatting...let me know!

*I runnin' 350 watt just to let you know

Make sure nothing is overclocked; otherwise it certainly sounds like a Power Supply issue. With the side off, even the default AMD heatsink should be enough to keep the processor at least cool enough to run. See if you can get a monitoring program like MBM (http://mbm.livewiredev.com) up and running to check your voltages.

VIA chipsets + Creative Sound Blasters = no fun

Problems between the two can appear suddenly, especially when in intensive applications (games, DC projects, etc.)...I would try leaving your sound card out of the system for a little while. If the problem persists, then look towards power...also consider formatting and reloading Windows.

Default Thanx!

Thanx for all the responses!

The problem was indeed overheating, case and desk open, I played CS and GTA for about an hour and works great, much better than crashing after 5 mins. I oc'ed my Gf4 4200 back to where it was and still workin fine. Gonna work on some case cooling and maybe gf4 cooler!

Peace.
