HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\Installed Path

Run in game mode of course. Still fiddling with it but so far so good.
ALchemy? So this game doesnt use OpenAL?

Vista's been out for a year and a half I think devs should know OpenAL is the only logical option.

Changing to OpenAL way harder than just sticking cowboy hats on the town of Skingrad.

15% downloaded at 400kb/s . . . Man, I really hope L4D isn't this way or they can preload a few days early. Steam should make it a point that if you are going to host your game on their servers, you should start preloads at least 2-3 days in advanced to the release date. If Steam/Bethesda would've preloaded this, there wouldn't be a problem, I can guarantee that.

Wow 94 posts since I left for work earlier today. Well, on the way home I stopped by the local Gamestop and they had already sold out! I'll have to wait until Thursday now to pick it up. Well, I've still got Dead Space and FC2 to play!

There is definitely a bunch of Oblivion heritage in this game but so far I'm happy with the game overall. FOV is kinda tight for my liking. VATS is a nice addition. Inventory and menus could definitely use some PC sizing and streamlining.

So my copy won't be done downloading until 1 AM. That's very unusual for Steam to have such crap bandwidth on their download servers. I have never had a new game download that slow before! Even Far Cry 2 downloaded in 30 minutes last week, minutes after it's unlocking. Now I have to go through another crap day of work just so I can play a game I bought 24 hours earlier . . .

Wish it worked that good for me. Every time I tried it, my download speeds would cut in half. Maybe I'll try it again and see how it works now.

I tried the TCP program again and it got me to 500KB/s. Only 1 hour and 15 minutes left . . . maybe I'll get to start the game later, if I haven't fallen asleep lol.

Hmm. This game seems like it might be a bit 'different'. That kind of appeals to me to try this game.

So are the PC mouse and keyboard controls like a typical first person shooter (I hope so)? How is the movement, smooth, jerky, etc? No weird Deadzone ish movement issues?

That earlier comment about the character in the screenshot looking like an Oblivion character with a cowboy hat on was hilarious. I remember playing Oblivion thinking, "my god, who drew these characters, they are about the ugliest SOB's I've ever seen". That dude with the cowboy hat on looks like he's had a few beers.

So far there is not much in this thread about the actual game playing itself. Looking forward to hearing these comments and experiences. I need a good game to play. FC2 is a bit of a disappointment for me, I'm leary about getting Deadzone right now because of quite a few comments about the game controls. So now I want to hear more about this one.
