You could always go the cheap route and buy an AGP 7800GS.

I thought the initial i7 release was going to be the high-end $1500 variety server parts and that we wouldn't be seeing mainstream parts for quite awhile?

If that's wrong that's great. If that's true... there won't be any price drops due to the new parts.
