Default Core i7 reviews starting tomorrow 3 November

Found this on Guru3D site.

Quote:
So guys, just a quick heads up on info. As you all know by now, starting tomorrow you'll see a lot of Intel Core i7 reviews on the web. This week, here at Guru3D.com we'll cover not one yet multiple Core i7 related articles.

Tomorrow on Monday you can expect us covering a couple of the processors and their performance. And next to that, due to the sheer new CPU performance thrown at us tomorrow we'll also bring you a Multi-GPU game performance article. We'll cover 2-way, 3-way and even 4-way Multi-GPU gaming performance based on that Core i7 product in combo with NVIDIA SLI and ATI Crossfire. Which, let me tell you, will be a pretty interesting read.

Later this week we'll also bring you some X58 motherboards review. So all in all -- check back tomorrow for some pretty interesting articles.

Hilbert

Article Schedule:

Monday

Intel Core i7 processor(s) review
Multi-GPU Game Performance on Core i7

Tuesday

Intel Reference X58 motherboard review

Thursday

3rd party X58 motherboard review
http://www.guru3d.com/news/starting-tomorrow-on-guru3d/

Meanwhile here are some guys managed to get Core i7 CPUs and ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboards overclocked at Xtremesystems.org forum here and also one guy from California bought a retail Core i7 965 Extreme and ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard from Central Computer store in Sunnyvale, CA here.

I read the Xtremesystems.org thread and noticed the i7 CPU cores have very high temp as high as 92C even when not overclocking, that is getting me bit worried about high temp, doubt whether to get i7 920 that could get fried sooner with short lifespan.

ROFL. I just read that thread from overclock.net where some guy managed to snag a i7 965 from some shop in California and posted some info on their forums. Looks like he got the shop that sold it to him in some trouble from Intel and he's yanked all his pics and info and seemingly disappeared. Another one bites the dust from the Intel goons.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/164...rts/index.html

Wow Core i7 actually faster than Core 2 clock to clock in Crysis. Oh crap, a day ago I was leaned toward Q9550 but after read this review I leaned toward Core i7 920... oh man I dont know what to do. Dammit more reviews please!

A few things I have read over at xtreme seems to lead that the i7's wont be that much better than the current cpu's in gaming

guru3d farcry2 results = insane...

overall the new design really has given the intel chip a good boost, i can't wait to get some xfire results, i bet the 4870x2 will be picking up a lot of boost as well.

AT's mammoth article is up as well.

In particular I was interested in OC the 920:

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=3448&p=15

3.8GHz without hassle. So much for Nehalem's not overclocking hey mythy??? :
Granted its not really a lot better than you could do with a Q6600 but its still impressive and considering SLI on an Intel chipset plus the fantastic video encoding results even at stock rates this is a winner IMO. Besides in a fair few games there is a significant boost even at comparable clocks between the Penryns and Nehalems. In the others there isn't really a performance drop, it just matches the previous gen.

Man this thing is FAST, didn't expect game performance to improve so much!!!.

Well after reading more it looks like it depends on the game and resolution, at 1920x1200 its very similar to the Core generation

This is what I hoped for. The CPU is way faster in multi GPU rigs, propably due the hefty perf. hit due load balancing.
