Please make >71.86.07 compatible with xorg-server 1.5.x

They must release the specs of this old hardware to Nouveau. Or atleast improve NV driver to support 3d functionality.

It's very reasonable for user whether of the oldest card to ask for support. The oldest of Intel card holder are happy guy because of open source friendlyness. Now if i am unreasonable, today's Nvidia latest card will become legacy 6-7 years from now and their customer would be begging to Nvidia Developer to provide driver for Xorg 3.0 or 4.0.

I request Nvidia Developers to tell community the clear cut policies for driver upgradation/ open sourcing of new /old hardware.

I have a Riva TNT2 chip. C'mon guys, this isn't funny anymore. Release it or let the open source community maintain the legacy drivers!

The latest release driver 71.86.09 is still NOT compatible with X.Org X Server 1.5.2.

71.86.10 is not compatible with xorg-server 1.6.0 (and I assume 1.5) - no 3D in Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04 - Time to try a risky xorg downgrade

i have lost hope in this matter. I have now installed Ubuntu hardy. Although i had to disable composite in xorg.conf, to enable 3d, this is the only option left. Nouveau 3d support is still immature and may take atleast a year or two.

I request developers to make their stand clear, as what we should expect. A new xorg compatible driver, opening of hardware specs, supporting nouveau, or no support at all.

I'm afraid we currently have no plans to backport this support to the 71.86.* legacy driver series.

I don't think there is any sense developing 71xx driver now as developers have blatantly refused to make it compatible for xorg 1.5 and above. No newer distribution with newer kernel uses old xorg. We are not interested in backporting older xorg in newer distro. STOP FOOLING US.
