LOL ... CRC, uhm, ok ...

How would you propose an "active" cheat detection be implemented?

Actually number one should be

A company that pulls out of the benchmark 3 months before release and says "this benchmark doesn't suit us therefore it's invalid" and then they proceed to hack drivers for higher scores. They "fix" their drivers and use this a premise "we told you we didn't like this benchmark and we've showed you how easy it is to inflate scores by lowering the iq, therefore you should not use this benchmark or believe it's an actual indicator of a vga's performance." Then they get caught hardwiring frames into the benchmark on only their LATEST drivers, first by a 3rd party then by the benchmark company itself. And now they haven't said ONE SINGLE WORD about this fiasco but you still cling to the belief that since they told you they cheated with IQ in the 44 dets (45s don't remember) that it's okay? You are delusional nv40.

Right, I am reopening this thread now, like I said in the other thread this was first closed because you were acting like kids.

I don't want to hear anything about nvnews been under pressure from NVIDIA as this is not the case, blame yourselves for this little bit of chaos instead of trying to continue tarnishing the image of this site.

If anyone continues with the flaming this thread will be locked for good

Edit: and for anyone who does not believe me mreman4k has already been banned for disobeying a ruling.

Active cheat detection? Hmmmm... how about the ability to slightly change the CRC by the end-user with a program?

Or just give everyone a freelook version.

Or have multiple camera paths.

I think I already explained my thoughts on given dev version freelook in the IRC channel... but yes... I am all for giving a non-dev version of free look for regular users..

the multiple camera paths would not really make a diffrene if they are still FIXED though... or are you implying something else ?

Ati said in their 3.4 driver release that they increased performance in 3dmark2003, if they did this by cheating why would they even mention they "increased performance"?

the question is WHo is #1 and who is #2
hey nv40, can you give the link to where nvidia tellls people not to trust 3DMark, i cant find it

Ok, so far:

FACT: nVidia cheated
UNDER INVESTIGATION: ATi MAY have cheated.

Whatever the case may be, I consider cheating to be downright an insult to the intellect of the consumer. Period. I wish it was the same with everyone...

Yeah, it was me... Apologies about that, I'm just used to the Rage3D environment where threads don't get closed down and cleaned up so quickly or so often.
