It is a great game and saying it isn't as good as COD 4 is ridiculous. One is modern and one is WWII with very few other differences.

To the untrained eye maybe

I played it at a friends house and saw the rest of the multiplayer maps...about 3 of the maps have potential to be played at a competitive level with heavy modding. The guns are still bad...recoil is the main problem and bullet registration is terrible.

Don't get me wrong...for the casual player the game is excellent and very much like cod4, after all it is what the game is based on. But to make this game work at LAN tournaments it is in need of some modding especially where balance is concerened and to seperate the lame from the skilled would take a lot. RAF1 is working on promod and bulletworm is working on pam, however with the reactions from most of the LAN communities it isnt going to go far.

Great game to play on public and single player but the basis for competitive play is let down...what made cod4 great for LAN play isnt there for codWW.

Picked this one up this morning; can't wait to play it tonight.

I played CoD4 MP more than any other game last year BY FAR... hopefully this one is comparable.

If you're still into CoD4 you can probably stick with that. Personally I never got into it and I prefer the WWII setting over modern combat in most situations. It definitely feels like WWII on top of the CoD4 gameplay, which suits me just fine.

Also, if you're lining up to fellate Infinity Ward rather than playing this, then to each his own, but I don't understand why. The quality is there. A good portion of the bias against this game is the whole Treyarch/IW thing, which is sad.

I'm still getting my feet wet with the rest of the maps that weren't included in the beta. They're pretty good. Others seem to have figured out the best spots already so that might make things a bit of a rough go, but I think I'm up for it.

If anyone wants to play, post your ID and I'll throw you on my friends list. stncttr908 here as you may have guessed. I'm on call for work this weekend without must else to do.

2 questions

1. Prestige mode for PC still MIA?

2. Local or server stats?

1. Prestige mode is in this game. Is there a problem with it? Only level 17 so far here.

2. Are you asking if there are stats? Yes, just like CoD4. If you're asking where the stats are stored, I believe they're stored locally, so backups are the order of the day so you don't lose your progress if your HDD goes suicidal.

Are you sure? The BETA required an online account and I remember reading that the full game too, will require an online account. Did they remove it from retail?

This level is awesome... roaming around on tanks prawning nazis.

Good game, improved over cod4. More variety.

The full game does not require an online account to play, only online. Now that you mention it, when you start the MP portion it does say "downloading accounts" so maybe it is stored on a central server.

Anyone have any insight on this?
