Somelike this:

Code:
[swarren@swarren-lx2 mplayer_r27960]$ sudo cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log|grep 'NVIDIA GPU'
(II) NVIDIA Unified Driver for all Supported NVIDIA GPUs
(II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 8400 GS (G98) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0)
Shows that mine is G98.

@Pistrakas, It's highly unlikely we'll support G80.

When you were testing with an unpatched MPlayer, were you building the exact same SVN revision as our checkout/patch/build script? I assume not, and that the SVN revision we picked for our patches simply has a bug.
Yep; I'm sure that I was using a later SVN. I'll try compiling the latest mplayer-vdpau without patches and try "hwdts".

Will the patches work with the latest SVN? Or, any word from mplayer developers about including the vdpau patches in an SVN?

Probably not; most, if not all, of the ffmpeg patches have been merged into ffmpeg SVN already, with some rework, and so would conflict. However, I don't think any of the MPlayer patches have been merged, and they would need changes to work with latest ffmpeg SVN.

Stephen,

One last update on my problem with overlays and the 8400gs. The problem described in this thread sounded very similar to mine, so I hooked the system up to a computer monitor via DVI. That completely resolved the issue. I then hooked the system back up to my HDTV via the analog VGA port instead of component video, and again the problem was resolved. So it's only using TV-OUT (at least w/ component out) that I have these problems.

It's possible this hang is the same thing as in this thread:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=126213

To confirm this, can you run the application under gdb, reproduce the hang, CTRL-C the app, then type "bt" into gdb and post the backtrace it prints. Thanks.

Do you have any other applications that are using overlay? That would trigger that issue...

Thanks.
