MPlayer already allocates video surfaces dynamically as needed, up to 50. Though it might be related to the dynamic allocation, e.g. repeatedly destroying and reallocating output surfaces was handled quite badly when I last tried... Either way I am not in favour of a work-around, NVidia will have to find a solution to the hang-like issues anyway I think, so it seems a bit like wasted time.

Referring to post #799

After some investigation, issue seems to be related to my mplayer patch.
If You apply vanilla 3482714 onto one from latest mplayer SVNs - one hunk is failed.
Patch tool shows this inly with verbose option.

I regenerate 3482714 patch (with manual editing failed hunk) and issue seems to disappear.

Also I fixed ref_frames to 16 for h264 high profile.
For me it fixed green screen for some movies (despite that 3482714 which auto sets ref_frames)

Could you post a link to such a sample?

Thank you, Carl Eugen

With last mplayer-vdpau-3482714, and nVidia 180.29 installed, I got this error during compile:
Code:
libvo/vo_vdpau.c:1506: warning: statement with no effect
make: *** [libvo/vo_vdpau.o] Error 1
It need another driver version?

Same error with last svn mplayer version.

That doesn't make sense. What is on that line in your copy of the file? In mine, the statement clearly does have an effect. Is your gcc chronically buggy?

To post such a problem, it is absolutely necessary to do the following:
Type "make" (and Enter) repeatedly (at least twice).
If the output is unchanged, post the complete output of make here (once).
(You were posting a line with a warning and the line terminating compilation. There is absolutely no relation between them, i.e. it is not the warning that terminates compilation.)

"the necessary changes were not made yet"

What changes are outstanding for EOSD?

At least:
- update it to apply to MPlayer SVN (only minor changes I think)
- compare speed of using power-of-two-textures and non-power-of-two textures, also compare it to the speed of the gl implementation which collects particularly small parts in a single texture.
- fix it to place stuff correctly, in particular take into account pan-scan
- avoid uploading all ASS images when their content has not changed but only their position on screen
- avoid a fixed upper limit on the number of elements drawn
- avoid recalculating stuff like destRect, renderColor on each frame, instead calculate it whenever the OSD is changed.

Default WVC1 - Is it possible

A quick one please

would you guys know whether its possible to please WVC1 files with vdpau? Possibly with moving the Win32dll's around?

I'm getting Audio only, I can play the test 264, VC-1 files without any issue.
Cheers.

The output of errors is very large, I've attached it on post.
Any line after "In file included from libvo/vo_vdpau.c:53:" seem to have a error.

Thank you!

p.s. I've tried to uninstall build-essential, and gcc compiler without solve the problem.

It seems I am the only one affected by this problem so far.

Additionally, some software decoders (MPEG1/2) do not currently work with -vo vdpau.
This was fixed by Reimar (and today's compilation issues were also fixed), so I invite everybody interested to test latest mplayer svn with vdpau and report back here.
