Default Re: mplayer vdpau

I been trying to play a clip with vdpau and I am running into errors. I get the following error:

Code:
[vdpau] Failed creating VDPAU decoder: The size of a supplied object does not match the object it is being used with.
The size of the clip is 2560x768. It plays with a greenish colored screen with no motion. The audio plays. I use the command:

Code:
mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffh264vdpau file.mov
Without the -vo and -vc flags the file plays just fine but obviously without vdpau as my cpu usage is at nearly 100%. I can play other h264 files with vdpau just fine, like a clip from the apple trailer site. I'm using mplayer version number SVN-r28942-4.3 on Opensuse 11.1. Has anybody seen this or have any idea what the problem may be? Thanks.

Did you read the Appendix of the Driver Readme?
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...html#id2583917

But since the error message you quoted points to another problem: Could you make the video clip available?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I took a look at that but I didn't make sense of it all. Following the link and looking at VdpDecoder section, is 2048x2048 the max resolution for acceleration? I assume my error isn't necessarily related to this?

I'll try to get a small clip and post it as the file I have access to is 4.3 GB. Thanks again

I don't see how this could be related to this thread ?
But AFAIK there is already support for that in mplayer, but you'd better ask on mplayer-user ml...

Just installed on Debian Testing the MPlayer package v1.0.rc2svn20090412-0.0, which in the changelog says:
Code:
Drivers:
...
    * add VDPAU video output
...
I gather that in Preferences|Video there is supposed to be a VDPAU choice, but I don't have it. gl2 uses way too much CPU to be hardware accelerated.

How do you enable this puppy?

no, it's not "gl2", VDPAU otput is called... surprize... "vdpau"

Go bother Debian Testing developer team or compile MPlayer yourself from SVN

Hello,
May I ask a newbie question? I know this forum is for Nvidia Linux but I would like to ask if,

Will Mplayer for Windows work with VDPAU? I prefer use SMPlayer and if I can use VDPAU with Windows, I'll purchase an nvidia graphic card supporting VDPAU.

PS: I know U of VDPAU means Unix and it seems it only supports Unix not Windows

Thanks for help

This is very unlikely.

I believe all 9600 GT cards contain a GPU supported by VDPAU.
