Default VDPAU and Generation 1 PureVideo

Are their any plans to provide VDPAU support for the 6xxx/7xxx series and G80 based 8800s?

Thanks for the reply. Not what I wanted to hear, but I can understand why (6xxx/7xxx have xvmc, any system with a G80 like I have should be able to handle video just fine using cpu only).

That is a shame as even partial acceleration for the 6150 integrated chipset would be a huge benefit. I haven't seen any recent NVidia based motherboards that support analogue TV out as well as DVI/VGA. The older Asus M2NPV-VM was a perfect HTPC motherboard as it could be used for composite, component, svideo, DVI and VGA.

Different GPUs have different HW capabilities. The VDPAU implementation targets a specific set of those capabilities that are only available on the supported GPUs.

Does this mean VC-1 decoding will only be available on 8200/8300 and 9300/9400 mGPUs, 9400/9500GT and the ones listed in the sticky? (Did I miss any with hardware to support VC-1 bitstream decoding?) I'm looking at throwing together a new media box and want to make sure I end up with one that can decode as much as is/will be possible.

Can one assume this functionality exists in both Destkop Quadro and Mobile Quadro GPUs that are the counterparts of the supported list?
In particular, FX570 M ?

The vdpau thread contains which GPUs are supported and basically the following shows the background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PureVideo. As you can see the G80 core had the same purevideo functionality as the Geforce6/7. I believe purevideo1 worked using shaders.

I would be very cool if basic VP1 cards could support features like improved output quality with
  • High Quality Scaling.
  • GPU high quality full frame rate deinterlacing.

Is it planned ?

PS : I own a 8800GTS 320MB and thought it will help with video but no luck for now !

Sorry, I can't make any comment on what future features will/won't be.

Hi,
NVIDA does not plan to support the Generation 1 PureVideo with VDPAU. Is there any possibility to transfer necessary informations to the community, because of this is the older generation of PureVideo.
In my opinion general there should be a way to support it with e.g. the opensource project Nouveau.
Or why NVIDIA didn't do something like that ?

Thanks

Erik
