Why do you want to delete NTUSER.DAT file?, it stores your user registry keys, if you have more than one file (example: NTUSER.DAT.XXXX) delete all except the .DAT file

Maybe you had the setting to hide hidden/system files before, normally you should not see those files.

This reminds me of my dear Mom ^_^

Mom: Sonny, my computer won't start!

Mom: Oh yeah i cleaned all the files in the root of C:
Me: There's your problem
Mom: Oh!

This was back in win98, luckily she had moved all the files in the root to a temp dir so it was just a matter of moving them back
Then she could resume playing that dumb card game and listen to mp3s
