I tried the new 173.xx.15 driver and my system will only load in low graphics mode.

Please run "nvidia-xconfig --no-logo" and try starting X again.

If you look at my xorg.conf I already have NoLogo listed. Also what package should I be loading 0 or 1.

Still having problems loading 173.14.15.... Not able to get it to load the normal xorg.conf.... It keeps defaulting to xorg.conf.failsafe..... I am running a GeForce FX5200 card.

Tried loading package 1 and 0 and neither worked. Both said they could not access the xserver. Would really like to switch to these drivers so maybe I will not have the problem with the KDE program text rendering.

How did you install the driver? Via nvidia's provided .run file or via Ubuntu restricted drivers (or whatever its called, I've never used Ubuntu).
Your bugreport shows you using the VESA driver which is useless. You need to install the nvidia drivers, then make sure your xorg.conf has the line: Code:
Driver "nvidia" Code:
Driver "vesa" Then `startx -- -logverbose 6` or restart GDM or whatever tickles your fancy and provide a bugreport. It sounds like Ubuntu's bulletproofx or whatever it's called is making it harder to debug the issue by forcing you to a failsafe vesa xorg config - try disable that if you can. We need your /var/log/Xorg.0.log[.old] files from when the nvidia driver was loaded, not vesa. |
