Intel Quad Core CPU. No way to sugar coat it

yap, game can use anywhere between 60-90% of overlocked quad core.

you would need dual core around 6ghz to keep up with that.

well I've got it to about 21 average fps in the bench. I haven't tried the new gta iv drivers tho so maybe that will give me a tiny boost. Think I will hold out till this summer again for another upgrade if I get another internship. How much do you guys think i7 parts will have dropped by then, or even socket 775. I didn't buy a quad this summer because the price of the Q6600 hasn't dropped in a whole year. I feel as if I wouldn't be getting the best bang for the buck anymore.

I don't think that the prices of the i7s are going to go down for awhile, but the motherboards sure could use a price cut. Hope that the Phenom II X4 delivers and you'll see prices falling much sooner!

price of Q6600 won't drop by large margin, it will simply disapear soon, Intel already said they stoped making them.

Check your sound setting in the options menu just to make sure you haven't turned down the sound effects too much. Then make sure you're not using surround sound(or if you are make sure all of the speakers are working)!

Hey bro, would you try something for me. I've got just about the same system but a 280 and I got about 21-22fps with 5.1 sound. If you have 5.1 can you try 2.1 (set outside the game) and see if you gain between 10-30fps all over the game?

I still didn't get my copy today, but I finally got a tracking update and it's here in town. I'll get to play for a few minutes tomorrow night and test it out on my rig.
