Default Something is annoying me so much!

The vista on my laptop (Dv7t) keeps freezing. No it's not frozen. No the processor is not being used. No the hard drive is not being used.

It just doesn't budge.

After awhile of doing stuff it just stops. Vista doesn't want to read from the hard drive. It just hangs. I can alt-tab and stuff but when you know the hard drive should be being accessed, it's not.

It's not preoccupied with anything.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

I suspect your system board is faulty, as nearly all the the laptops that come in from users at our place with this type of problem usually means the motherboard has a fault. If it is it also usually means the end. sorry.

Suppose you try updating the bios.

Sounds like a bad hard drive.

See if it's doing any abnormal clicking.
Also, check the event viewer > system for any ATAPI errors

I've owned 1 laptop/notebook (what ever it is that people are calling them today) and it did exactly what you are describing and it was the motherboard.

I'll never purchase another laptop in my life. If I "need" one for work, work can supply it.
