-norestriction doesn't work for me, neither. In wich shortcut should i type this line in, LaunchGTAIV.exe? And is there a way to open Command Line without editing shortcutz parameters?

Is it really a good idea to use the -norestriction extension?

In my extremely limited testing, the ingame memory counter is not overestimating the memory usage of the game, if I push things too far into the "red zone", the game will crash at random intervals.

Its not a memory problem, just a graphic restriction. I can put all other optionz to minimum so i got more then enough free mem, and still i cant push textures quality higher then medium.

Update: Command line options not working on Steam? Try this:

Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV and create a shortcut on the LaunchGTAIV.exe (right click, select “Create Shortcut”)

You can add any launch options to this new shortcut.

To launch the game properly, first start the RGSCLauncher.exe in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv\RGSC. Then launch your newly created shortcut.

You will not have access to the Steam overlay while launching this Shortcut. However, once you have added these launch options successfully, you can re-launch your game from the Steam application to continue using any new changes.

I found minimal impact switching over to high textures on my 8800 GTS. Had to use the command line to enable it. To me the jaggies aren't so bad, but the way the shadows look really irks me. Hitting P definitely makes them not look as bad, but it ends up blurring everything much like the PS3.

Could somone post exactly what has to go in which box in the shortcut options to get rid of the restrictions?

I have XP and see the following:

Target: "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestriction -nomemrestrict

Start in: "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV"

Is that right?

Edit: I tried it and it loaded the black launcher box then went back to the 'Play' box from Social Club after a while.

abbraxus -

I got it to work fine in vista by..

1) find launchgta and create a shortcut
2) right click properties
3) find the target box and add the extras
4) boot it
5) go to options and check (did not work for me 1st time!)
6) restart
7) check again (worked for me then!)
