180.11 powermizer still broken

I can understand taking time to fix a serious bug, but how hard can it really be to give us an xorg.conf option "enablepowermizer" "False" setting in the meantime? Hasn't this bug been around for years already? We shouldn't be having to use windows registry hacks to control a basic function like this, not to mention that even the registry hacks don't seem to work anymore. I never use my laptop on battery, heck the battery doesn't even work. Powermizer is totally useless to me in the first place.

I have 0 use for powermizer my laptop is lucky if the battery lasts 10mins

Please just let us have control of our PCs, please!

No problem with another laptop, 9600M GS (G96), ubuntu 8.10 amd64, driver 177.80.
It seems to be a weird problem, it could vary from some hardware to another.

But does it affect all G92 series?
With a D901C, 9800M GTX, are we happy to play ETQW at 30 fps?!! NO! Give us Mhz...

Yeh my D901C w/ 9800M GTX gets stuck @ level 1 and wont go further.. such a pain! However i did fix the "Battery" issue.. AC_ADAPTER wasnt showing up so i had to modify my DSDT table :P Still didnt help much tho

My gpu NVIDIA 9600M GS, VBIOS version: 62.94.3c.00.17, laptop ACER ASPIRE 6930G, OS: Slackware 12, kernel 2.6.21.5 and 2.6.27.7. It only runs in powermizer level 0 and level 1.

Is it hard to add this function in the driver? How long could it take?
Is it possible to install the driver as on a desktop, to avoid powermizer?

It seems that Nvidia was appreciated to give correct drivers. It's not correct to ignore some major problems. Of course we've not the choice, but is it a reason to let us without answer?

I am running an 8700M GT with 180.22 drivers

I disabled my powermizer override options in my xorg.conf and now when I monitor nvidia-settings and run glxgears; my performance level switches to max and when I stop glxgears nvidia-settings switches to performance level 1. So, powermizer appears to be working normal now at the moment for me.

It's ok with 8700M GT for me too, as it is G84 based. But it seems to fail with all G92 based (NB8E, NB9E), and some 9600M GS (NB9P).
