I istalled today disper 0.2.3.

I have given in the console "disper-S": This leads to the fact which my laptop automatically carries out a new start.

The settings which I have carried out with nvidia-settings is after him immediately log in: Both screens are "active" and should not be active, nevertheless, actually, second.

Has wrong gone forward here in principle from me?

Thank you for a short answer.

Thus my configuration looks in xorg.conf:

@klemi: I have my doubts whether it is possible to dynamically switch display configuration using separate X screens. Can you use nvidia-settings to switch on the fly from your current configuration to a single screen (without restarting X)? And to TwinView? It would be interesting to know.
You may want to choose the TwinView configuration in nvidia-settings.
If you really experience a system or X crash, please be so kind to file a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/disper/+filebug , thanks.

Default Re: call for testers: Low projector (beamer) resolution

At the begining I would like to say big THANKS to the author of disper as the utility helped me to solve the problem with the tragic display setting for nvidia drivers.
Right now I am facing the problem to set up projector as the external screen. The projector is old and there is not probably the EDIF?? information, so after disper -l it will offer me only the 320x200 and 640x480 resolution options. I know that projector is able to work in 800x600 mode, but I am not able to force disper to switch to this mode. I tried
disper -S --resolution=800x600 - but it did not work (error message)

Do you have any idea how to force resolution setting for such a device?

Thanks.

@pdbq You may want to open a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/disper/+filebug and include the output of the disper call with the -v option; without the error message I can't really say what would be the cause.

Hello Willem,

this is the error message:
------------------------------------------
michal@dellbook:~$ disper -v -S -r 800x600
backend: nVidia
using specified displays: CRT-0
adding auto-select metamode: :: DFP-0: nvidia-auto-select +0+0, CRT-0: nvidia-auto-select +0+0
associating displays: DFP-0, CRT-0
adding metamode: :: CRT-0: 800x600 +0+0
deleting dangling metamode 50: source=nv-control, id=50, switchable=no :: DFP-0: 1280x800 @1280x800 +0+0
deletion of dangling metamode 50 failed
deleting dangling metamode 51: source=nv-control, id=51, switchable=no :: DFP-0: nvidia-auto-select @1280x800 +0+0
deleting metamode: 51
associating displays: DFP-0
could not find nor create MetaMode: :: CRT-0: 800x600 +0+0
michal@dellbook:~$
-----------

I found on the web the highest projector resolution is 1024x768, but as I already wrote, the disper is unable to set the resolution.
The problem should be the signal switch - there are 2 computers (one is mine) connected to the one pojector via the signal switch, but I am sure, because I faced the same problem on the direct connection to the projector.

Thanks for the advices how to solve this problem

Michal

@DocMAX: indeed in some cases the list of available resolutions (accessible using XRandR) is cleared upon display switch. An important reason for this is to avoid X crashes. If you are actively using XRandR switching, please submit a feature request at https://bugs.launchpad.net/disper/+filebug

Nah, they're waiting for Willem to add in a "--toggle" option first.

Hi alex, this is a known issue and not harmful; it means that your default lcd scaling value from nvidia-settings wasn't understood by disper. The next release, version 0.2.4, should have this fixed.
