@kcrudup:
it may take a while still since it's a little complex to do it right: http://launchpad.net/disper/+bug/315090

If you have some time to spare, please read comment #5 and let me know how the toggle/cycle feature would best be used from a user's point of view (everyone is welcome to comment on this).

Hey, Willem- since Ubuntu did some sort of update to XOrg, I've been getting this, usually after a suspend/resume cycle:

Code:
$ disper --single
deletion of dangling metamode 50 failed
unrecognised scaling value for DFP-0 from nvidia-settings: 131073
$
... and it doesn't disconnect the secondary display (but moves all the windows off of it to the primary). If I run "disper --single" again, the X server must crash hard, as I get returned to the GDM login screen.

I first thought it might be related to the 195.36.31 NVidia driver, 'cause I saw it there first, but after trying 195.36.24 and .31, and 256.29 and .35 and seeing it across all versions, it's obvious this is due to Ubuntu's update.

If you need more info, let me know.

@kcrudup: hmmm that doesn't look good. Could you please file a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/disper/+filebug and include the output of disper with the -v option so I can see better what happens? Thanks.

That you see X crashing later is the result of the failure to delete the dangling metamode.

I think I figured out what is going on. I had an explicit MetaMode left over from way back in the day when I had to have that in there to get two-monitor support by default from the X server. Taking that out (the NVidia tool was complaining about a bad MetaMode when I'd try to switch using that tool) seems to have fixed this crash.

Hi, my external monitor's refresh rate (Hz) is not been auto detected correctly, and I have to adjust it manually from nvidia-settings... I want disper to set it, is this possible?

I've already tried:
disper -r "1366x768","1440x900_75" -e

and i got
invalid literal for int() with base 10: '900_75'

Is there any way to tell disper to set the refresh rate to 75?

Edit: A bug for this has been opened at
https://launchpad.net/disper/+bug/651899

After a long time disper 0.3.0 has been released, which adds the long awaited feature of cycling through modes (though not yet completely perfect). Another new feature is hooks that can be executed on display switch. And of course a couple of bugs have been fixed. Thanks for all people who contributed.

More information at: http://launchpad.net/disper

Enjoy!
