Getting Kotor 2 to work in Vista 64?

I finally beat Kotor 1 after neglecting it for a long time and just went out and got Kotor 2. I went through all of the steps necessary to install it in Vista based on reading multiple forums. I changed the setup.exe folder to XP compatibility and ran as an admin and did the same for the .exe to run the game. I also installed the offical patch, so I am good there. I was still getting a "kotor 2 has stopped responding" when clicking the .exe so I replaced the mss32.dll file from my kotor 2 folder with the one I have in my kotor 1 folder, as mentioned by people to get it to run.

Now I can start the game, but once I get past the 2 splash videos the game just crashes if I click the mouse or any button and if I leave it alone it will say the program whas stopped responding. I have followed every step I have read about to get this game running on Vista 64 but it still won't work. Anyone have any ideas for me?
