Give PoP some attention!

"Something new" meaning "take any risk/reward system out of gaming, and make games essentially interactive storybooks."

The more time I spend on PoP the more annoyed I get with how much it's on auto-pilot. Even ignoring the no deaths thing, the basic mechanics are done in such a way it is almost impossible to die... er... not die.

The words streamlined or dumbed down come to mind, great risks and innovation there. Pfffft.

I bought this game because of the lack of DRM, and got a very nice game as a reward. For those who say the game is too easy, the game is fun. You want a challenge, perhaps Chess vs a computer opponent on the highest level. Personally I feel the fact they eliminated dying makes the game flow much better. After all one false step in this game and you die, unlike games of old where you can fall great heights and be ok.

The problem is the comparison with Sands of Time trilogy. Especially Warrior Within, the fight system was superb in this game, you would face various enemies at once, and you had a big combo system, you had the option to not fight and simply run away... there was total freedom. Warrior Within was heavily critized because of the change in the character and the annoying rock music, but for me it was the best and most difficult of the trilogy. It was a complex game (getting the alternate ending was hard) and it was on console too, so I don't see reason to dumb down this new game so much.

Well I see one reason: get the casual player to play it and sell more games

I definitely is a casual game in my books. Not entirely a bad thing though. Sometimes I just wanna kick back and chill.

It seems like most 2008 releases from Ubisoft have been a disappointing mess. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 2 and now Prince of Persia. All promised something amazing but failed to deliver.

Did Ass Creed come out this year? I thought it was last ::

I liked Ass Creed and PoP. Far Cry was the only real disappointment for me. ::

I loved Assassin's Creed... Farcry 2 is good but not great... PoP is good, but not a real game.

Just got this today and after playing for an hour or 2 all i can say is it seems pretty aimless...after the opening level i went to the city of light (i think it was called) and after a short boss battle and a lot of jumping and wondering around i ended up in a palace pretty much walking around in circles without any clue as to where i should be going or what i was meant to do...all the corridor and sections looked the same and i found i was back traking time and again after enemy fights because id ended up in a section of corridor were the exit looked the same as the entrace....i think the no dying thing is lame but atleast it saves have to wait to for a menu or hitting f5....oh well no loss really xmas present, looks like chopping it in or sending it to ebay
