Default Refresh problems

Hello,

Using compiz I've noticed there are some refresh problems: for instance when editing text with kile or using xfce Terminal certain parts of the screen are not updated. This is always reproducible.

I'm using an nVidia Quadro 570M graphic card with nvidia-drivers version 177.82. Is this a compiz problem or a nVidia drivers problem? Is there way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Damian.

Yeah same card and setup here, and same problem. I think it appeared first in the 177.* drivers. And apparently not fixed in the 180.* series (not sure though, there seem to be so many different screen update problems..).
I can get away with KDE's konsole which mostly updates properly.

This is a known bug / limitation in the DAMAGE extension of Xorg. For compiz it usually helps to disable loose bindings, not enable sync to vblank plus there is a patch for it available from nvidia, which also might help.

Additionally, Aaron Plattner of nvidia is / was already looking with the Xorg people for solutions.

Kind regards

Fuchs
