KDE and second display = no window decorations on second display

Hello everyone,

I recently attached a second monitor to my NVidia 8600 GT, then changed my X configuration using /usr/bin/nvidia-settings. This allowed me to set up the second monitor as a separate screen, left of my primary monitor. It works, the resolution, color depth etc. are all applied correctly.
The only problem is that all applications on the second screen are displayed without borders and window decorations, which makes managing the windows a bit difficult. They also do not show up in the task bar.

Configuration:
KDE 3.5.10 on openSUSE 11.
Xorg 7.3-96.4
NVidia kernel module 173.14.12_2.6.25.11_0.1-0.1
I am not running Xgl and/or Compiz.

This problem seems to happen to more people with NVidia cards, in combination with multiple monitors, KDE and the NVidia proprietary driver. Googling has not provided me with an answer, only more people with similar problems, so I decided to ask here, to see if there is anyone who can help me set things up so I can use the second monitor.

You should not set up the second screen as a separate X screen but you should use TwinView instead.

Furthermore you should try a clean xorg.conf, don't check "Merge with existing file" when you export the xorg.conf with nvidia-settings. If you need some special things done for your input devices or something else, copy them over by hand afterwards.
