Of course , was a developer . Is a programer . And the forum member named PROF is the designer of Metro 2033 - and STALKER - .. Also the developers talk in other threads about 3D vision glasses, seems like the game is spectacular with them.

As much of a hater as Charlie is, when where the 2% yield rumors proven wrong? He's still going on about them in this article, and if the yields where much better than 2% back in Nov/Dec then we would have Fermi by now.

I think he has some merit in this article, but his hate spiel is still unwarranted. It is starting to look to me like NV have aimed too high with fermi and it's all going pear shaped when it comes to delivering the actual product in numbers and at the right price. It's just looking like NV30, the last time they released a new architecture on a new process.... they don't seem to be as experienced at moving new technology to an unproven process as ATI are.

OT, if Fermi is moreso delayed I wouldn't be surprised if Metro 2033 doesn't support DX11. At least out of the box...

Because a company can not delay a product even if everything is going good in its product...

If the product has already taped out, why else would they delay it? Since it taped out mid last year, they won't be making any changes to the product, just minor revisions. Unless, like semi accurate article claims, they could need a B1 stepping for large scale release.

yea that was an old article on Guru3d.

Apparently the GT300 was taped out early September, add a week or six to eight to that and this would tell us a launch could be imminent as soon as late November early December.

That obviously didn't happen, clearly there were still problems. So the guru3d source would be worthless. Or maybe he's a dbag fanboy trying to keep Nvidia from looking stupid?

I can't think of a good strategic reason to delay the product launch, it must be because of an unforseen problem.

There are only two factors to winning in the performance GPU market, speed & speed - that is: speed to market and speed of the card in terms of frames per second.

problem low yields of the gpu aren't the only thing that could slow a product to market, maybe a low number of ram chips? That has happened in the past, you can have the product first to the market but if you don't have enough to sell its meaningless. Do you guys like paper launches?

low number of ram chips would also fall under the category of unforseen problem.

you're right I should have said first to market with good volumes of product to sell. that's what I meant.

I was responding to your insinuation that Nvidia might be delaying it's product for a reason other than an unforseen problem.

what possible business reason could there be to delay the launch?
