Default Problems with NVIDIA Quadro Plex on Fedora Core 9

Hi.
Since our systems were upgraded to Fedora Core 9, we were forced to move to NVIDIA graphics drivers version 180.06 (previous versions won't compile).
This version is having problems in utilizing the 4 GPUs we have on the machine.
I tried using the nvidia-xconfig utility to create an xorg.conf that created one screen per GPU (nvidia-xconfig -a).
Here it follows:

1 # nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
2 # nvidia-xconfig: version 1.0 (buildmeister@builder58) Sat Nov 8 18:20:50 PST 2008

This matches perfectly with the previous hand-crafted version of xorg.conf in our previous distribution and driver version.

lspci also lists the GPUs coherently:

[fabraham@ac05 fabraham]$ /sbin/lspci | grep G80
0000:1d:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G80 [Quadro FX 5600] (rev a2)
0000:1e:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G80 [Quadro FX 5600] (rev a2)

0001:5e:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G80 [Quadro FX 5600] (rev a2)

However, if we run startx, only the 2 first GPUs are used. No connections to :0.2 or :0.3 are allowed.
If we craft a xorg.conf layout that only uses the third or fourth GPU, I get the following error:

[fabraham@ac05 fabraham]$ startx &
[1] 13711
[fabraham@ac05 fabraham]$ xauth: creating new authority file /home/ac/fabraham/.serverauth.13711

Default Re: Problems with NVIDIA Quadro Plex on Fedora Core 9

Hi,

I think that I have the same problem, I have an HP workstation and I don't manage to have three monitors enabled. Even though linux is detecting two video cards (quadro fx 5600), the third monitor has no ouput signal.

I have tried with another workstation (Sun Microsystems) and everything works fine.

The workstation features are:

2 AMD Opteron processors
8 GB RAM
2 NVIDIA QUADRO FX 5600
Ubuntu 8.04 (I have tested Fedora Core 9)

Just one question, what linux distribution and nvidia driver version did you use before?

Thanks

Default Re: Problems with NVIDIA Quadro Plex on Fedora Core 9

I don't think its the same problem: I have 4 GPUs and only 1 monitor enabled. I am using my GPUs for offscreen OpenGL rendering, so there's no need for any monitors.

The distribution is Fedora Core 9. The driver version is NVIDIA 180.22.

All GPUs were enabled and usable in the previous distribution, which was RHEL with an earlier driver (don't remember the version).

When we changed to Fedora Core 9, the 4 GPUs show in lspci but only 2 GPUs can be used in the X server.
