so we would know which video card to buy ...

Just FYI, the information that the VdpDecoder object reports for max stream size (4096x4096) is incorrect at present (equally on all cards). We hope to fix this for the non-beta 180.xx driver releases.

hi,
great tool.
i was able to build and test it.
but i don't know what the results mean.
the results are the same, as wump posted in his first post.
i have a quadro fx1600 which is more or less a 8700m gt.
but how can i say, IF my card is vdpau capable?

which of the results tells me this?
for what result i should watch?

Yeah, would be useful, especially to see the cards supporting VC-1 stuff. Apart from that there don't seem to be that many differences between cards in feature support etc. But I could be wrong, haven't tried that many.

I'm running two 8800GTX's in SLI with the 180.18 drivers. When I run vdpinfo I get this:

display: :0.0 screen: 0
Error creating VDPAU device: 25

Is that normal?

AFAIK SLI is currently not supported with VDPAU.

SLI works fine. What isn't supported is your GPU.

Just an FYI, 180.22 contained a minor API change to VDPAU; the decoder query function now returns "maximum macroblocks" instead of "maximum references". The function signature is the same, just the parameter name changed.

This change was because we now support the full number of references that the relevant specifications support, and so should any other VDPAU implementation. Hence, reporting max supported references doesn't make any sense, whereas max macroblocks is useful information.
