I get an awful lot of errors when I try to compile this. Is there something non-obvious that I am missing?

Compiling on Ubuntu Intrepid with g++, using make.

Without any errors to look at, we can't help you.

I would however suspect, that it could be due to vdpau.h missing, since I don't know how you installed the nvidia driver. Can you check if it's installed?

I've updated it to show macroblocks now...

And indeed, if you get errors you don't have vdpau installed properly, or the X development headers (this is xorg-dev on ubuntu I think)

BTW thanks for the information on different cards, this should help people at least a bit finding one that does VC1

It might make more sense as an X.org app. wump, if you'd like, I can work with the X.org admins to try to get it added on freedesktop.org. I'm currently in the process of getting the libvdpau wrapper and trace libraries added. For now, they're in a private git repository: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~aplattner/libvdpau/. I expect that to be moved to the xorg/lib category once it's approved. This would be a good counterpart to that.

Yes, I'd like that, it would be great if it was part of some standard package. It is too small to be a project on its own, this is also why I didn't put it up on sourceforge.

Awesome! What email address would you like me to put in the git repository for you? You can PM me or I can just put down something fake if you'd like.

wump, nice little utility.
My P7811-FX results are identical to yours in the top of this thread.
It's a 9800M GTS with 512MB DDR3

Thanks,
The Doctor

I was about to upload this, but before I do is it alright with you if I rename it "vdpauinfo" to match the libvdpau naming convention?

All the freedesktop.org admins are at LCA, so it might be a while before it gets moved out of my private repository. In the meantime, you can send me patches and I'll apply them.

I have been wondering about this thing ever since I purchased it. Information about the 9300 seems to be scarce. The VC-1 confirmation is what I was really looking for. Thanks for whipping this up wump.

If there is no specific level limitation with VDPAU, why does vdpinfo nominate level 4.1? Why not 4.2 or 5.1?
