Default kde 4.2 xinerama

Has anybody tested kde 4.2 (beta) with xinerama? I am thinking of upgrading from 3.5.10 which works, but has slow 2d. I will obviously not have composite features, but I am still looking for some insight on how plasma handles, I fooled with very early 4.0 versions but with many problems

(2) 9600GT
(3) 24" Montors
1 Large xinerama desktop

Thanks,

dillzz

I use KDE 4.2 beta 2 at work on two 17" monitors and at home for connecting my 42" LCD TV to my laptop for watching videos and DVDs.
So far on beta 1 I once had minor glitches with background picture, but they did not occur again later on and I think it's fixed in beta 2 now for good.

I assume you run these two display off one video card? Please note that this
is not a "true" Xinerama setup: the "nvidia Xinerama extension" only fakes
the screen boundary information for window managers and applications.
The "true" Xinerama (as part of the xorg package) composes displays connected
to different video cards to a single big desktop.

@dillzz you should more clearly point out that you like to run three displays
off two video cards.

JaXXoN,

I think that is the second time that happened. Thank you for the clarification. Never assume!

Hmmmm yes. While you both are true....

Personally I think it's not relevant for the initial question, if it's real or fake Xinerama. The window manager just asks Xinerama about availiable screens.
So if KDE 4.2 can user the fake Xinerama, it can use real Xinerama the same way.
Just my assumption.
But as you say: Never assume.
Why not just give it a try?
