I've checked and I have no such options in the BIOS.

Words really can't describe the feelings I'm experiencing right now, at least not in a civil manner.

The only thing I can say is that my next purchase will be from ATI.

Some of the early hybrid things did have a (real hardware) switch outside somewhere...

Every IGP motherboard I've ever seen had a BIOS option to turn off the on-board GPU so that separate card could be used. Please, check again in order to ascertain that you have not missed something....

Yep, there is no option to disable the onboard graphics with this Toshiba.

I got scammed by Toshiba and Nvidia.

No you didn't get scammed. Toshiba didn't advertise that their product works 100% correctly using Linux and various sources (documentation, this forum ..) mention that mobile sli / hybrid sli aren't supported. You could have checked this yourself.

Yes, it is a scam.

Hardware shouldn't require special tie-ins with other products to function.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I purchased a car that only worked with certain rare gas stations.

Just to give comfort to the next poor soul that finds this, my Acer X1200 BIOS does not have this option, at least not that I can find (8200 IGP). It does let me disable the HDMI audio, but nothing more.

The BusId seemed to do the fix.

I've got the same hardware, the latest beta drivers, who should support 9800M GTS, and the same problem than the OP. Are there any things to do to get X to understand that the ARE screens connected to my cards?

Setting the BusID always throws the same error to me :
