Only one program should even be considered.
Total Video Converter Google it.

XVid4PSP.
It's free, and it's the same as most of the programs you can get out there - it's just in one package. There's also a few PS3 profiles you can pick from as well. |

Ah, didn't know that.
The guy who's coding the thing, Winnydows, said that the trim function is going to be in his next release. So far, it's been several months and a few revisions later, so I couldn't take it anymore. I went back to using his 4.115 version since all of the profiles are still pretty much there aside from a few new ones - and the trim function is there. It's awesome software for it being free as well. Can't beat it. ![]() I am using the newest TMPGEnc for bigger encodes, though. The CUDA support is awesome, and I can render a whole 2 1/2 hour clip in about 40 minutes! I rendered a 52 second 1440x900 HD video for YouTube as a test and it only took about 3 minutes as well. If you pay for any video converting software, this would be your obvious choice if your videocard supports CUDA.The so called other video programs can bugger off. ![]() |

mkv2vob This is the best program, no transcoding (unless needed) and multiple containers supported, made specifically for the ps3 |

Shamrock, only considering a program that cost money is retarded when you can do everything using free programs.
I've suggested it here in the past before, http://alltoavi.sourceforge.net/. It was originally designed as a way to convert anime for play on portables so it has strong multi format support and strong subtitle support. It will take pretty much any video file and you can convert it to mkv, avi, or mp4 with options to hard subtitle if you want.
