Sure.
I am currently having a code-walk through their sources, there seem to be some XRender related problems performance wise. Seems like the guys who wrote that stuff never really benchmarked it. If he would have done, he would have seen how tourturing his code is for Xorg ![]() - Clemens |

I tested konsole and qt 4.5rc1 with command "time seq 1 1000000":
Terminus 11pt (without AA*): ~78s (and the text is drawn portions about once per second) Terminus 11pt (with AA*): ~16s Liberation Mono 10pt (without AA): ~12s Liberation Mono 10pt (with AA): ~5s * Terminus is a bitmap font, so it looks exactly same both with AA turned on and off. |

Related bugs in KDE's bugzilla (duplicates):
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167476 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160467 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172250 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155174 Today I've submitted a bug report straight to Qt (software) - probably they will create a workaround. |

There's still something wrong with konsole, for example if I'm compiling something, so think about make that is putting its output on the bash, many text is scrolling, then in this situation, Xorg process takes 50-90% (of 200%, I've got a dual core).
Very very slow, scrolling konsole at full screen ![]() Last edited by marchetto; 03-09-09 at 10:18 AM. |

There's a problem even while drawing Kopete NON-AA fonts... if you write something then you try to erase with backspace it doesn't show correctely.
Please can someone help or try to write a solution? Is a xorg.conf misconfiguration? Is a qt bug? Is a nvidia driver bug?? THANKS ![]() |

I'm sorry for a long delay but finally I got a reply from Qt developers. They gave me a test-case, unfortunately the code path used by Konsole is different from what Qt engineers have come up with, so I need a help from people who know C++/Linux/Qt.
Qt engineers are willing to help but this test-case has to be altered in such a way so that it has the same performance bug as Konsole (so, basically we have to extract Konsole's text rendering and create a simple example from it). I'm now attaching the given test-case and if you want this bug to be eliminated ASAP please write to "qt-bugs AT trolltech dot com" with the following message subject: "Re: [Issue N245676] Nonantialiased text is rendered VERY slowly in Linux". |

185.13 is simply AWFUL
![]() 180.37 works a little better, but again seems like you're running latest 3d game in dvd, instead, you're just reading a konsole... ![]() ![]() |

Any news on this issue, Plagman/NVIDIA?
![]() It's like three months have passed since you identified the problem, now I'd be glad if something came out as a result. |

Yes it would be nice it has been a long long time.
Last 180.44 stable works quite like 180.37, kopete non-AA fonts has the same issue and konsole is quite crappy. |
