Default Re: [BUG REPORT] Konsole from KDE4 is unusable with bitmap or with nonAA TrueType fon

Same issue on Archlinux, nVidia 9600M GT, nvidia 185.18.36.

Switching to any other antialiased font solves the issue.

This bug has been known since at least January 11, 2008 (KDE 4.0 release date), so we will soon celibate its second anniversary.

Use AA truetype fonts only.

They're far better looking and relaxing for the eye anyway.

Lucida Console is an excellent choice as it is fixed-width also.

No font in any X terminal is better than Terminus - 97% of users agree.

Besides it is a bug in NVIDIA drivers and it needs to be fixed.

I can confirm this bug
I tested konsole with command "time seq 1 1000000"

Clean 9pt (without AA): 145s
Clean 9pt (without AA and fontconfig): 9s

KDE 4.3.2, QT 4.5.3, NVIDIA 190.42
konsole running full-screen at 1920x1200
fontconfig disabled with "export QT_X11_NO_FONTCONFIG=1"

AA truetype fonts are too hard to read. Is there some AA truetype font which looks like Clean 9pt?
I attached screenshot of Clean 9pt font.

Completely fictional-arbitrary number, coming out of your imagination.

Users, agree.

Please, post your screenshot.

Now, here's mine - absolutely crisp and clear - no AA font can compare to it:

P.S.

Are you serious?? What monitor do you have? A 32" 2560x1600 display and you are sitting 2 meters away from it?

Too thin and too small.

You need a magnifying glass or an ophthalmologist.

Thank you for keeping this thread alive, it will definitely draw developers' attention.

As for my screenshot. People with a normal eyesight have no problems with "my" fonts, while your screenshot clearly demonstrates that you wear thick glasses and have myopia. (My vision is also not perfect, but your choice of fonts indicates that you have myopia in a range of -8 diopters of even less/worse than that).

Anyway I digress - I'm not willing to sacrifice my comfort by using the fonts which look blurry (and all antialiased fonts look blurry unless we have displays with 150 dpi resolution).

Wrong again.

As I have never worn any glasses nor had myopia.

I bet all you fonts are 18pt or bigger.

I cannot imagine how you manage to browse the Internet or do any work at the PC.
