Does nvidia plan to bring fan control for Linux by Graphic User Interface, Command Line and maybe API for the GTX 200 cards ( GTX 260, GTX 260 216, GTX 280 )?
I don't know about the Geforce 8 and 9 series cards as I skipped them I have a BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE 896MB ( 216 SP ) and since then I've been using Windows more than Linux when playing games simply because there is no fan control and nvclock no longer works for me and I don't like that it runs at 40% all the time when playing games. Yes I prefer Linux over Windows and I'm sick of dual booting Thankyou |

The NVClock cvs version should work for you.

Fun .. Try to edit src/Makefile and src/backend/Makefile in there add the option '-g' to the gcc line. Then perform a make clean and recompile. Then launch nvclock using gdb (gdb nvclock and then type 'run -i' in gdb) and create a backtrace (type 'bt' when it crashes). Hopefully I see some more then.

ok this is all of it from the command I typed in to the end
I had to run the configure script before I could see the "Makefile" ... all I saw before was "Makefile.in" and I added "-g" to all of the make files incase anything extra showed up Quote:

Hmm, line 842 of nvclock.c contains 'nvclock.dpy = XOpenDisplay("");' I guess XOpenDisplay is failing but I'm not sure yet why.
Could you try ./configure --disable-nvcontrol to see if that works. I want to fix the crash anyway but first I want to know if this is the issue. |

I fixed a compile error which prevents those two NVGetAttribute calls.
