Hi all, i have a dilema.
My pc has 2 nvidia 8800s gtx running sli and i just bought an xfx gtx 260 black. This was for a pc that die a few days before it arrived and incidently will not have the new sli pc for a week. So i was wandering if anyone could tell me if the 260 would be any better than the 8800 gtx set up. The pc is a dell 720 h2c and has a phys x card too. Thanks in advance for any help. |

I had SLI 9800GTX+'s and the GTX260 Core 216 is deffinitely a better performer. My 3dMark06 score dropped when going from SLI to a single card setup, but that's just numbers. It is more than equal to my previous setup with the 9800's. I don't even see the need to get a second GTX260... and I have had SLI since my first computer build(SLI - 8800GTS 320mb, 8800GT 512mb, 9800GTX+).
The G200 series is the frist card since the 8800GTX that deserves to wear the GTX badge, there should have never been a 9-series "GTX". The 8800GTX held it's ground for so long, now there is finally a card worth upgrading to.

I've got an 8800GTX SLI setup, and I'm not too thrilled about it. I've been considering selling them and getting a single GTX 260. My high FPS might drop a little, but my concern is my minimum FPS. From what I've read the 260 would do better in that area then the 8800GTX SLI. Can anyone confirm that?

You're probably right since I bought the 2nd card a couple months ago for $120. It was a EVGA Re-cert from Newegg.

Either way the GTX 260 should be able to hold it's own in anything you're going to play, so I would probably just use that if you needed to. |
