Try this:
Start > Run and type in regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll and hit ENTER key. If this does not solve the issue: Start > Run and type in these lines. Hit ENTER key after each one: net stop wuauserv regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll regsvr32.exe wups.dll regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll regsvr32.exe MSXML3.dll regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll regsvr32.exe qmgrprxy.dll net start wuauserv Reboot Windows and go to Windows Update. Download batch file (f1c2eb3dWU_0x80070424.cmd) from below link - which will do as above. http://www.fermu.com/lang-es/descarg...startdown&id=3 Let me know if this helps..... |

Download the Vista Service Pack 1 exe from Microsoft (32-bit - http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=8165717 64-bit - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...6-dc0626dcdf10). I believe I had this same problem and installing SP1 fixed it (I was trying to get the windows update to install it but ran into this problem). I'm not 100% sure it will fix your issue but it's worth a try!

I also downloaded the batch file you gave me a link to but again it didnt help. Im downloading service pack 1 now so ill let you know if it works when ive installed it. Is SP1 stable and ok to install now?? i dont really want more problems! lol Many thanks ![]()

Might be a stupid question but are you using account with admin privs?
errors seem to be with permission issues. Try out SP1 - you should be ok.... |

SP1 is certainly stable. It has a lot of very crucial fixes. It's supposed to be installed via Windows Update.

This is just getting stupid now lol...see attached
![]() Also ive tried everthing with "run as administrator" just to be sure. I dont get why my system is being such a pain at the mo. maybe a clean installation is the only way to fix it.

please check and ensure the TrustedInstaller service (Windows Modules Installer) is started.
Start > Run and type in services.msc You can try this also: Start > Run and type in these lines. Hit ENTER key after each one: regsvr32 wintrust.dll regsvr32 rsaenh.dll regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll regsvr32 softpub.dll A Vista Repair may be necessary @ some stage?, unsure as your system seems to be a little fubared alright. Hopefully we can get it sorted before we go down this route. |

Odd, Windows Modules Installer doesnt appear in my services list?
I also tried running the first regsvr32 wintrust.dll command but i had an error. The module "wintrust.dll" was loaded but the call tio DllRegisteredServer failed with error code 0x80070005 I have a Windows installer in the services list which is set to manual but is not started. is this the same thing??
