Default Trouble installing 169 drivers on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)

Hi all

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with an Asus M3N78 motherboard (Geforce 8200). I'm experiencing many of the same 2D troubles with the 17x and 18x series of drivers that others have posted about on these forums, so I decided to try out the 169 drivers (which are the current ones with Ubuntu 8.04, Feisty, and don't have the problems). The only problem is, that the kernel module will not compile.
