Well quite a few people are running more than 4Gb and even if you don't use the extra ram it's much wiser to use it as a ram disk for web caches etc instead of it being of no use at all. Hell you could even install games on it if you go the 12 GB route.

We are downloading the Beta here at work, we are going to try it out on a crappy workstation and a crappy laptop to see how it does.

MSDN.

I'm gonna have to d/l the 32-bit version since my guinea pig laptop only has a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo so it's not a 64-bit CPU.

Does W7 have the WEI numbers? Or did they scrap it? Did they raise it? (if it's still in)

Hmmm . . . Sounds weird but ok. Maybe they will be released tomorrow.

So I have Windows 7 up on this laptop:

Intel Core Duo 1.67GHz
2GB RAM
Intel GFX (probably a 945GM)

Runs fantastic compared to Vista! I'm a little impressed with the performance boost. Good thing I have an open afternoon to try and break it lol.

It -is- faster. I hope SP2 will bring same speed to Vista as well

From MSDN: The activation keys are currently unavailable. Please install without using keys and check back in a few days to claim the keys. Sorry for the inconvenience.
