You know how Toshiba, RCA etc... offer Upconvert DVD players that all you to see your 480p DVD's in 1080p greatness. I would like to be able to create a HTPC that has the ability to do this. Any suggestions on what hardware I need etc... The mobo I plan on using is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131324
So I have HDMI without buying a separate video card. My apologies for a newbie question but I am new to the HTPC game.

with that board you have everything you need, for best results you will have to use software player that can support AVIAO (SP?) ATI version of Purevideo.
decent CPU, ram etc.. and you are set.
